Proverbs 3:5–6 · Scripture Reflection
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
We naturally build our routines, work, and ambitions around what helps us and our families thrive. The honest question this passage asks is whether we truly bring those plans before God, or simply decide everything ourselves and ask Him to bless the conclusion.
Trust reaches into the hidden motives beneath our choices, exposing where our desire for control masks itself as a desire for peace. Because our own perspective is always incomplete, real trust begins with admitting that we need divine wisdom even to know what is good for us.
Planning is a necessary part of responsible living, yet our personal judgment does not see every outcome. The essential test of humility is whether our plans remain open to correction when an efficient choice lacks kindness, integrity, or love.
Acknowledging God extends far beyond spiritual routines into daily budgets, quiet ambitions, and ordinary interactions. It becomes practical whenever we test our motives against Scripture, treat others fairly, and allow His wisdom to actively reshape our choices.
This promise calls us to quiet trust rather than a guarantee that God will rubber-stamp our preferred outcomes. We can work diligently while holding our paths with humility, willing for His wisdom to govern what we pursue, how we pursue it, and what we receive.
Choose one plan that matters to you today and examine whether the way you are pursuing it reflects honesty, love, and fairness. Ask what you might be overlooking because the plan benefits you, and whether you are genuinely willing to welcome God’s correction.
Lord, You know my needs and the reasons behind my plans—help me see what I am missing and teach me to welcome Your correction. Guide my next step in integrity and gratitude, and make me willing to follow where You lead—Amen.
